I’m assuming you’ve already read both my “About the Blog” page, wherein I ramble on about why this blog came into existence and, of course, the doll that inspired me in the first place, Eve. The loss of Eve and her companions was a tough pill to swallow and, for the longest time, I didn’t have the heart to write much of anything.
This blog was a way for me to express myself, though, it was fun and I missed it when it was gone. Giving up on something that had meaning for me, that I enjoyed, sucked. We humans are silly like that sometimes, though. Yes, I’m an adult - or at least, by my age, I should be - but here, far from the demands of the world, I get to let my inner child play.
If I was going to continue the blog, though, I was going to need a new doll.
I reached out to Betty, my doll-dealer, aka the artist behind All the Little Dolls, creator of all the custom repaints that I’ve had. She agreed to make me a new, enchanting creature, even going so far as to ask if she should have “Eve eyes”, big and soulful.
Yes, please.
As expected and very much appreciated, she came through in a big way. Using her epic skills and what I’m still not convinced isn’t a magic spell, she expertly crafted Moira. This is the first picture I received:
Let’s be real here: who wouldn’t be psyched at being told “Hey, this is your new doll!” ?
Okay, maybe someone who doesn’t have a healthy appreciation for dolls wouldn’t be excited - but if you’re reading this, it means you’re willingly looking at a doll/playscale-world centric blog; it’s not a stretch to imagine you’re a fan of Barbie or other, similar figures. You’re in good company.
My only change request for her was freckles. Betty said that was the brilliant part about working with layers: you can add to it.
One bespeckled layer later and she was on her way from Australia, a born jet-setter. After a brief detour at a neighbor’s apartment - which, based on my texts with said neighbor may have them convinced I’m ordering illegal stuff - she arrived here, to her new home.
A few minor alterations later - replaced hands, piercing her ears, etc - and viola: she made her debut on the blog.
Update: For those who don’t keep up to date on the blog, Eve and her companions were returned to me in January of 2020. Such a good start to the year before…everything that followed.
