New Nu Face
This new Nu Face doll has been met with some criticism in the various doll groups she’s been discussed. I’m not surprised anymore that a doll can be such a source of drama.
The official story for this doll (Rayna Ahmadi™) on the IT website: Following her hit appearance in the Reckless collection, top model Rayna returns, now the star of her own reality TV series! Looking fierce and full of attitude, this girl is ready to tell it like it is and we love her for it!
Not everyone “loves her”. “She looks like Paris Hilton let Marilyn Manson dress her for a ‘Tarts and Vicars’ party.” and ”The detail of the clothes is ok but they look like a female tribute to the village people.” have won the award for humorous shade.
They’re not entirely wrong, the diamond-studded cap is very village people and the use of excessive belt buckles reminds me a great deal of when a Hot Topic opened in the mall. Are either of these bad things, though? I really liked shopping at Hot Topic and I’m not ashamed of it.
She looks very 80’s retro punk meets 90’s goth sex-kitten and I like it, but I don’t love it.
This doll’s body is not for me but there’s no denying that her face is beautiful, though I’d prefer if she didn’t look like she was about to ask to speak to the manager because the coffee grinder is too loud. She appears to lack the pixelation problems Barbie is experiencing. As someone who doesn’t have their dolls repainted I appreciate factory quality.
I can’t be the only one just a tiny bit jealous of her teddy-bear backpack. Hopefully I can find one on the secondary market. Otherwise I may end up making one myself if I can find the time.
At a 160$ price point I’m not interested but considering how quickly she sold out it appears I’m in the minority.
What do you think?
