Dress for Success
I can’t remember where I first heard the phrase “Dress for the job you want”, but it stuck with me and, today, that’s exactly what I’m doing. Yep, you read that right, I’m job hunting.
It’s not that I don’t like my current job, I do. I’m comfortable and my bosses are great – they even gave me glowing recommendations that went above and beyond. In the end, though, with Cole’s employment bump in progress (he’s waiting for his LLC paperwork to go through), we’re going to need more than what I can make working retail, even full time, and I don’t think I could handle 60+ hours a week again.
You might have noticed my surroundings have changed. After our lease expired, Cole and I chose not to renew it. Budgetary concerns and short notice forced our hand in the matter.
We began renting a storage space, where 90% of everything has disappeared to (capsule wardrobe challenge extended ;) ) and found ourselves a tiny room to rent from an elderly couple. They usually rent to students, but made an exception. At least we have our own bathroom.
Apparently, lots of students rent spare rooms, though with the stipend that students are given, I’m not sure how they manage if they’re not working. If I had remained in a part-time position, I couldn’t even afford this room if I wanted to eat! I’m not going to lie, I miss our old place, terribly much. It’s a great condo and, while I’d love to daydream about it being left open so the two of us could snatch it up once Cole’s LLC takes off, it’s unlikely. Even if I get a snazzy new job.
Cross your fingers for me? I’ll see you next time :)
