Be Still My Heart
We’ve been having a veritable heat wave around here, with temperatures reaching into the double digits each day. Spring has officially taken hold, hopefully the barren trees will start to don their green, leafy layers in the coming weeks. It’s a welcome change, though I can’t claim the Danish spring isn’t chilly, we’re probably not done with snow just yet.
More and more people, myself included, are packing away our long winter coats, but very few of us are willing to abandon layers entirely just yet. I’m seeing the return of shorter jackets, hoodies, and even a few thick cardigans on the streets.
For those of you living in colder climates, if you haven’t invested in a pair of soft, quality wool leggings yet, I can’t encourage you enough. They’ll pay for themselves several times over before you manage to wear them out. They’re perfect for an outfit like this, with a light layer that won’t do much to trap heat, but is simply too gorgeous not to want to wear.
This lace cardigan is really more of a Danish summer piece—those of you in tropical areas probably think that sounds insane, but spend a summer here and you’ll agree with me—and I’m excited to see what I can mix it with. It arrived earlier this week, I just couldn’t wait until the season changes again to show it off. To my delight, it worked with the outfit I was actually wearing at the time I tried it on, necklace and all.
I love the forest green color and the open-weave appearance; it’s comfortable, without looking frumpy. It looks delicate, but it’s actually quite sturdy and structured. Surprisingly, it even makes my home-made blouse look more luxe and professional than it actually is—and I’m digging that color combination.
Honestly, I’ll probably end up wearing this quite a bit before summer officially arrives, weather permitting. Another romantic, feminine piece joins my wardrobe…I’m sensing a trend here.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m curious, what are some of your go-go spring pieces?
