Officewear to Datewear
A Wednesday night may not seem like a date night, but this week, it was for Cole and I. When I was told I’d gotten the job, Cole suggested we celebrate at an upscale place called Ilym. We could either take this reservation, which is for 5:30pm on a Wednesday, or wait a few months to get a table. We opted for tonight.
I’m so glad we did. If you haven’t been, you enjoy fusion cooking, and you’re in Copenhagen, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. You won’t regret it.
Of course, the timing posed logistical challenges. I usually don’t leave work until around 5:00, which didn’t give me enough time to commute (20 minutes, one way) home, get changed, and then head to the restaurant (25 minutes by train). Ilym is only 15 minutes from my office.
The smartest option would be to wear an outfit that could transition from office-appropriate work-wear to something a bit more romantically inclined, without need of a giant purse.
And that is exactly what I did.
Thankfully for me, the bathroom at the office has nice enough lighting for me to give my makeup a tweak. Two thumbs up for my office building. I also tucked a pair of earrings into one of the pockets in my purse and, to my surprised, remembered to put them in before heading to meet Cole.
While this form-fitting dress is a little bit on the shorter side, I knew I could get away with it so long as I was wearing this fantastic, cranberry blazer. I know, I know! I said I wasn’t going to buy any more blazers or office wear…and I won’t…after this. I couldn’t resist, and you have to admit, it’s very much my color.
The dress itself is hand-made, sewn by yours truly, and I love it with the blazer over the top. I think it came out rather nicely, don’t you? For the date, I simply slid off the blazer, put on a little makeup, and viola – easy. In fact, I made it to our date with three whole minutes to spare.
I hope you enjoyed this post and I’ll see you next time :)
