The Perfect Jeans
At first I thought my first post of the new year should be looking back at the last year, sharing my favorite looks and moments, and embracing the nostalgia. But, let’s face it, I’ve only been blogging since Halloween, and that isn’t a lot of time, a look back seems contrived.
Instead, I thought I’d share one of my favorite Christmas gifts this year; if you hadn’t guessed already, it’s a pair of jeans, but not just any jeans: the jeans! In an earlier post I mentioned that I’d been searching for a great pair of jeans, but what makes a great pair of jeans? There are three traits I look for in my denim.
1) The fit.
Believe it or not, I’ve actually had some trouble finding jeans that fit.
Supermodels, like the gorgeous Poppy Parker—mini girl crush—are not shaped the way I am. Or am I just not shaped like them, hmmm? As it happens, most of the clothes that I like and admire tend to be made for her figure. And why not, she’s very fashionable, gorgeous eyelashes, so pretty…what was I talking about? Oh right, the clothes I like. Even the evening wear I posted isn’t for someone with my bust/waist/hip ratio in mind. The length is less of an issue because I can always hem things to be a bit shorter, or just enjoy the length, but there’s not much to be done about the waist being that much too small.
2) The pockets.
The denim worn in this post actually doesn’t have pockets—no place for keys or my phone—and while I’m certainly not opposed to carrying a purse, sometimes, I’d just rather go without one. Besides, going without one means that Cole can’t hand me all of his stuff to carry, before teasing me about having a purse - yes, he does that sometimes. Men’s jeans also tend to have larger pockets than ours, too, but that’s an entirely different rant/post.
3) The look.
Okay, yes, I’m picky. I have a few pairs of jeans that work in a pinch, but the fact is I’m a sucker for a dark stonewash, black skinny jeans, or the ultimate, flare leg. My search for excellence has finally come to an end, at least as far as jeans are concerned.
The designer behind Levitation Fashion was willing to make a pair of jeans with a wider waist and shorter legs for me; just my size. If you can’t tell by the amount of pictures in this post, I’m very, very pleased with them—they tick every box. Thank you so much to Nina, the designer behind the brand. Amazing work, really.
