Stitch of Determination
I’m envious of people who can sew often and well, it’s not something that comes naturally to me. A button here or there, or a little light alteration? Sure. But the task of making something brand-spankin’ new for Moira? Yikes.
A lot of you know I suffer from hand tremors that make what used to be mundane activities more challenging. That said, I really wanted my lovely Moira to have something new and cute to wear when we – yes, we – go to see the Barbie movie together.
It's a far cry from high fashion, but it’s cute and, probably most importantly for me: easy(ish) to sew! Something I’m hoping will disguise my many little and not-so-little sewing mistakes and failings can be disguised a bit. It’s two tubes…how hard can it be?
As a sidenote, for anyone who enjoys sketching or painting or creating art of any kind, I can’t recommend the Wacom tablet nearly enough. Mine is a medium, and about three(ish) years old now, if not a little older, but it brought something back to my life that I thought I’d lost access to when, while gripping a paint brush, my hand started shaking. And no, they’re a sponsor, there’s no affiliate link, I’m just saying I love mine. Do with that as you will. Sadly, it won’t make anyone a better artist, and drawing fashion isn’t really “my bag”.
Now, where was I? Ah yes. Material. I decided not to ignore Barbie’s signature color, pink, while also embracing a floral motif.
I can almost hear Miranda Priestly’s eyes rolling at my choice. How will I live with it? Oh right, I’ll see my doll in the final product:
I even put her in heels, poor girl.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, sweet - leave a like and a comment. If you didn’t, bummer - leave a comment telling me how much I suck as an artist and seamstress - you know you wanna ;)
